Our favorite Fall activities in Long Island.

Fall has always been my favorite season as far as I can remember. I find it even more magical in New York! The colors, the harvests, the leaves, the holidays season approaching…! Now below is is our list of favorite activities to do in Long Island during the Fall.

  • Harvest Season: Apples & Pumpkins Picking

  • Fink’s Country Farm: This Family-owned Farm has tons of fun activities for the Fall and host an Harvest Harvest Festival each weekend from 9.30am to 5pm between Sept 18th and Nov 1st 2020. It’s the perfect family fun activity with hay rides, corn maze, U-pick pumpkins, kiddy train ride, combine slide and much more! Only 30mn from The Hidden Retreat.

  • Harbes Family Farm: I feel like Harbes is one of the most famous family-friendly farm around the North Fork. Their Apple Picking season runs from August 31st through the end of October, and holiday weekdays (9/2, 9/30, 10/1, 10/9 and 10/14). Open 9am-6pm Saturdays and Sundays. They even have up to 27 different sorts of Apples!

    Their Pumpkin Picking season is open through 10/31. They have over 8 acres of on-the-vine U-Pick Pumpkins. Open Mon-Fri 11am-5pm and Weekends & Holidays 9am-6pm.

    They also have a Corn Maze during the fall and their Orchard maze transforms into a spooky night maze Saturdays in October! So much FUN!!

  • Lewin Farms: We love their “Pick-Your-Own Fields”. During the Fall, you can pick up tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, Apples and of course Pumpkins! They also have a corn maze and a farm stand to buy seasonal fruits & vegetables. They are situated in Calverton, only a 25mn car ride from the Hidden Retreat.

  • Brenner’s Farm: Enjoy Hayrides in family during the whole month of October, every weekend (12pm-4pm). There is also pumpkin-picking, pumpkin-painting, and a big swing for kids to enjoy. They also have great fruit & veggies for sale!

  • May’s Farm: May’s Farm in Wading River offers ton of cool & fun family activities when the Harvest season kicks-off. Choose between the Pumpkin picking, the tractor drawn hayrides or their May’s Amazing Corn Maze. On selected weekends, the children can take a pony ride, have their faces painted and decorate their pumpkins. Homemade and local food options are available on site like an ice cold apple cider and a fresh, hot, buttered ear of roasted corn.

  • Fall Family Freshwater Fishing Festival

    This fishing festival is family-friendly. You can fish at the MacDonald Pond and South Pond with fall activities, such as a casting for pumpkins contest and pumpkin decorating. The event includes fly fishing instruction, Children can also enjoy an inflatable slide, pumpkin decorating, face painting and live entertainment.

  • Great Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular Sail

  • 2020 will sign the 8th edition of the annual Great Jack-O'-Lantern Sail. It takes place in Belmont Lake State Park and features donated carved pumpkins which are lit and placed on boats that are pulled around the lake by kayaks at dusk. Children's activities include crafts, games, inflatables, funny photos and trick-or-treat stations and the not-so-scary 'Spooky Den'.

  • Visit Long Island Vineyards (Family-Friendly!)

    The Fall is a beautiful time to visit the vineyards in Long Island, it’s Harvest time!! It also means that wineries are celebrating with hosting Harvest events within the vineyards!

    During normal times, Sparking Pointe, Wolffer Vineyards, Liebb Cellars or Macari are hosting great events! Plus, some of them are family-friendly so you can even bring the kiddos.

    But due to the Covid-19, some events are uncertain. So, we will be updating this article later depending on how things evolve!
